Out of The Blue - WIP & Completion

Here is a preview of my next watercolor work. I just had to do a series of paintings on desert plants. So here is the progress, thus far, on my cactus painting.

Cacti always inspire me to hang on even in difficult circumstances. So here's to hanging on until I can manage to add a few more layers of color to this painting. :)

Hang in there, friends!

OK. Drum roll.......Here is the finished painting. I decided to call it Out of The Blue.

Hope you like it. I sure do. If you are interested in beautifying your home or office with this painting or a print of it (other paintings available too), please check out my shopping site: http://fineartamerica.com/profiles/1-jennifer-niemiroski.html .

Lizard Lines

Happy Monday to all! Hope you had a great weekend! I had fun working on a drawing. Still have to add more background color and tree leaf coloration, but it will be finished soon.

It is a picture of a Green Anole on a colorful tree. It is happily sitting in the sun.

I used colored pencil and pen to create this piece. I had a lot of fun trying out the highly textured lined look for the tree bark. Totally have to do some more like this. :)

Promise of a Maple

This seed carries the promise of a majestic maple one day. It may be small now - only less than an inch long, but it plans on bursting out of its small case and changing the world.

This painting has been submitted to Illustration Friday's weekly challenge with the topic of WOOD.

It is a watercolor & gouache with pen on 140 lb. watercolor paper. Size: 5.5" x 8.5" If you would like to purchase the original, send me a comment or message with that request. See www.jenniferniemiroski.crevado.com for more details (in the watercolor gallery).

I Spy a Butterfly

Mr. Sly spotted a butterfly! Oh my, what is he thinking of?

Be nice, Mr. Sly!

And here is a friend of his, Miss Vixie. She is his polar opposite - sweet, optimistic, innocent, and quiet.

Happy Crabbie

\

Little Crabbie is happy to be at the beach today. He looks like he has plans for some fun, perhaps mischievous fun!

The warmer weather has brought out the happy in Crabbie! Hope it does for you, too!

Long-eared Jerboa

The Long-eared Jerboa is a cute, somewhat unusual looking creature. It has over-sized ears, strong jumping hind legs, whiskers like a cat, and a body like that of a small mouse. It is a real mixed bag of parts.

This resourceful animal lives in the deserts of Asia, where there are all sorts of threats to deal with, such as temperature extremes, predators, and a general lack of water. It burrows underground to escape the temperature extremes. It has multiple entryways to escape predators. It covers these entryways with plugs of dirt to insulate from the temperature extremes. This also helps to conserve moisture.

Most of these cute critters come out to play at night.

I think they are super cute and just had to draw a cartoon version of one and share it with you.

Who knows, maybe it will be the inspiration for a children's book someday... ;0)
